  • If you use an Apple Mac or Apple MacBook then you will be missing out on ShootersPool! So here’s a guide on how to install ShootersPool on macOS via the use of Windows & Bootcamp!

    Table of Contents

What You Need To Get Started

    One of these Mac models:

MacBook introduced in 2015 or later
MacBook Air introduced in 2012 or later
MacBook Pro introduced in 2012 or later
Mac mini introduced in 2012 or later

iMac introduced in 2012 or later
    iMac Pro (all models)
Mac Pro introduced in 2013 or later

If you have one of these Mac models using OS X El Capitan 10.11 or later, you don’t need a USB flash drive to install Windows:

MacBook introduced in 2015 or later
MacBook Air introduced in 2017 or later
MacBook Pro introduced in 2015 or later
iMac introduced in 2015 or later
    iMac Pro (all models)
Mac Pro introduced in late 2013

The latest macOS updates, which can include updates to Boot Camp Assistant. You will use Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows 10.

64GB or more free storage space on your Mac startup disk:

Your Mac can have as little as 64GB of free storage space, but at least 128GB of free storage space provides the best experience. Automatic Windows updates require that much space or more.
If you have an iMac Pro or Mac Pro with 128GB of memory (RAM) or more, your startup disk needs at least as much free storage space as your Mac has memory.
An external USB flash drive with a storage capacity of 16GB or more, unless you’re using a Mac that doesn’t need a flash drive to install Windows.

A 64-bit version of Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro on a disk image (ISO) or other installation media. If installing Windows on your Mac for the first time, this must be a full version of Windows, not an upgrade.

If your copy of Windows came on a USB flash drive, or you have a Windows product key and no installation disc, download a Windows 10 disk image from Microsoft.
If your copy of Windows came on a DVD, you might need to create a disk image of that DVD.

How To Install Windows on macOS

    1. Use Boot Camp Assistant to create a Windows partition
Open Boot Camp Assistant, which is in the Utilities folder of your Applications folder. Then follow the onscreen instructions.

If you’re asked to insert a USB drive, plug your USB flash drive into your Mac. Boot Camp Assistant will use it to create a bootable USB drive for Windows installation.
When Boot Camp Assistant asks you to set the size of the Windows partition, remember the minimum storage-space requirements in the previous section. Set a partition size that meets your needs, because you can’t change its size later.

    2. Format the Windows (BOOTCAMP) partition
When Boot Camp Assistant finishes, your Mac restarts to the Windows installer. If the installer asks where to install Windows, select the BOOTCAMP partition and click Format. In most cases, the installer selects and formats the BOOTCAMP partition automatically.

    3. Install Windows
Unplug any external devices that aren’t necessary during installation. Then click Next and follow the onscreen instructions to begin installing Windows.

    4. Use the Boot Camp installer in Windows
After Windows installation completes, your Mac starts up in Windows and opens a ”Welcome to the Boot Camp installer” window. Follow the onscreen instructions to install Boot Camp and Windows support software (drivers). You will be asked to restart when done.

If the Boot Camp installer never opens, open the Boot Camp installer manually and use it to complete Boot Camp installation.
If you have an external display connected to a Thunderbolt 3 port on your Mac, the display will be blank (black, grey or blue) for up to 2 minutes during installation.

How To Switch Between Windows and macOS

Restart, then press and hold the Option (or Alt) ⌥ key during startup to switch between Windows and macOS.

Hopefully now you can enjoy ShootersPool on your macOS device! This guide is only that, a guide and TYPLive offer no support or held responsible for anything that may happen to your device including nuclear warfare. This should only be done by people that are technically minded and have knowledge in setting up partitions and boot devices prior to this.

Mint Promotion are a company based in the UK that specialises in Sublimation Printing and other custom clothing printing such as Shirt Printing, Cap Printing, Jacket Printing, Jumper Printing and even Mask Printing! Anyway you get the idea they can print on just about anything. Emma & Michelle offered to partner up with us and kit us out with some custom sublimation shirts and jackets. I’ve always fancied the look of the shirts that are worn at the Mosconi Cup, the sharp designs, polo shirts with a low profile collar and a zip instead of buttons just set out what I wanted just to be different from the rest.

So what did they kit TYPLive out with? Well they kindly gave us enough shirts and jackets to go a full week an able to wear a fresh top each day! Brilliant for when we are broadcasting away or even playing at events that are over a few days.

For the design I sent across a few ideas that I liked from shirts already out there and the idea that the shirt had to fit for any broadcasting event. At the time we was Pool based so it would have been understandable for me to get something pool related on there but I saw the bigger picture with expansion and wanting something to work for anything, more on that later. Here are the draft designs sent over to me.

The colour scheme fitted the brand. Our old logo features on the shirt but still well connected to that logo and still connects to the name. We had a spot for our own name too just to give each shirt that little bit extra personalisation.

So how about the jackets then? Well heres the design of them too.

We have also got a hoody with a black outside hood with red on the inside. Honestly to have the brand on something that looked quality was a great feeling. At the time we stepped away from the basic shirt and vinyl printing and went all out thanks to Mint Promotion. They are truely part of the foundations of TYPLive and will forever be grateful of their support.

As well as kitting TYPLive out they have also of course kitted out many other Pool Teams, Football Teams and businesses. They also kitted out our East Yorkshire County C team for the EBPF National County Finals where we both broadcasting and played in the event.

With how things have gone with TYPLive branching out into other Sports and areas the clothing allows us to link our appearance on and off the screen no matter where we are.

Just below are some images from us and others wearing their Mint Promotion gear. Below the Gallery find all the links to Mint Promotion!

TYPLive was kindly given a tin of Lynch’s Original Cue Balm to review and trial out. I have used many Bees Wax tins over the years to create a nice smooth cue action but non that claim to help reduce tension and anxiety by the infusion of Essential Oils to give you the benefits from aromatherapy techniques. So does it do what it says on the tin?

    Table of Contents

    The Essential Oils

Lynch’s Cue Balm is infused with three different oils those being Tea Tree, Rosewood & Ylang Ylang. With this been the unique point to the Cue Balm as soon as it arrived I cracked the tin open and gave it a whiff. Wow it certainly smelt nice and the Tea Tree was instantly the first thing that came to the senses. To start things off I have only applied a small amount of the wax on my cue and a few other people next to me could smell the Oils so it certainly gives off nicely from the Cue. Now after applying it to a few cues of my mates the smell combination got stronger and started to smell like we had some of those candle sticks going in corner of the table.

    How Smooth?

Like with any Bees Wax its going to leave a very nice smooth finish to your cue. Lynch’s Cue Balm actually challenged me to that I would not wear a glove after trying their product. As someone who hates any stickiness on their cue the longevity of an application of the wax is crucial. More over repetitiveness of wiping the cue down with it and also how long a tin would last. After one night of trying the Cue Balm its certainly been a nice introduction back to not wearing a glove. I found myself able to execute stun or small screw shots with much more precision and if anyone knows my playing style I really struggle with keeping the white ball in a neat area. Going from a sticky cue and gaining little cue ball reaction and no confidence to glove wearing and cue ball reaction to an unnatural feel to the hand; the Cue Balm has certainly given me a nice middle ground.
Theres a lot to test in this area so looking forward to really getting to grips with it. Maybe a blog post on Glove Wearing vs Cue with Cue Balm coming up?

    The Relaxation Effect

Going back to the Essential Oils, its use is to try and reduce the anxiety levels of a match and in turn improve your cuing accuracy. As much as I don’t have a room full of Essential Oils to relax me during the workday I fully understand the aims of Aromatherapy and do find that certain smells do relax and calm me with past experiences. However at the moment it would be too early too say if its certainly helped or not with that in mind this review will get updated over time as I continue to use Lynch’s Original Cue Balm.

    Review Summary

Currently with only one night of Pool with Lynch’s Original Cue Balm I’m certainly going to say it gives your cue a very nice smooth finish and the Essential Oils leave a sweet smell to your cue. I’m a firm believer in calmer mind = smoother cuing so hopefully once I’ve got a few more hours and sessions with the Cue Balm I will start to find the calmer mindset from it.
